Session Proposal: Turbulence, magnetic reconnection, and non-thermal particles in space plasmas (AGU25)

SH035
Turbulence, magnetic reconnection, and non-thermal particles in space plasmas

Session ID#: 247417

Session Description:
This session welcomes contributions from observational, numerical, analytical, and laboratory studies that explore turbulence, magnetic reconnection, and non-thermal particles in the heliosphere. These phenomena are sometimes interconnected but can also represent different aspects of nonlinear plasma dynamics. Magnetic turbulence can create current sheets that heat the plasma and initiate magnetic reconnection. Magnetic reconnection events can alter turbulent energy cascades and accelerate particles. Non-thermal and non-isotropic particle distributions can lead to instabilities and turbulence.  We invite studies addressing these and related phenomena across various space environments, such as the solar corona, solar wind, and Earth's magnetosphere. We welcome contributions examining diverse regimes, including low and high plasma beta, weak and strong turbulence, balanced and imbalanced turbulent cascades, non-relativistic and relativistic dynamics, and fluctuations at hydrodynamic and kinetic scales.
