Land Surface Phenology: Advances in Time Series Analysis and Phenological Detection, Modeling, and Prediction Through Emerging Technologies and Multi-Scale Observations

Session ID#: 248734

Session Description:
Land Surface Phenology (LSP) is a critical indicator of ecosystem function, carbon and water cycling, and responses to environmental change and anthropogenic disturbances. With the rapid development of multi-scale remote sensing observations (e.g., near-surface imaging, UAVs, aircraft, and high-to-moderate resolution satellites) combined with advancement of time series analysis technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning), LSP research is entering a new era of discovery and innovation. This session invites contributions that (1) generate or fuse novel time series datasets across spatial and temporal scales; (2) develop or apply advanced algorithms for phenological detection, mechanistic modeling, and prediction; and (3) explore the ecological relevance, drivers, and predictive utility of LSP in the context of climate variability, land-use change, agriculture practice, and ecosystem management. We aim to foster interdisciplinary dialogue that bridges ecology, remote sensing, and data science to advance the LSP research in a changing world.
