Session Proposal: Fluvial Dynamics, Sediment Transport, and Landscape Evolution in Mountain Ranges (AGU25)

EP015
Fluvial Dynamics, Sediment Transport, and Landscape Evolution in Mountain Ranges

Session ID#: 249141

Session Description:
Rivers in mountain landscapes are critical for generating topographic relief and setting erosion rates for steep landscapes. Mountain rivers must both transport sediment and incise into bedrock, dependent on factors including sediment supply from adjacent hillslopes and terraces, the hydrologic regime, and rock material properties. Mountain rivers respond to climate, tectonics, and rock strength, driving a dynamic system that impacts adjacent hillslope processes and landscape evolution. This session includes studies of river and valley morphology, sediment transport, channel, network, and landscape evolution in mountain ranges. We welcome research topics across a variety of environments, landscapes, and spatial and temporal scales, incorporating methods including field measurements, geochronology, remote sensing, experimental, theoretical, and modeling approaches to investigate the dynamics of mountain rivers.
