From Data to Decisions: Shaping Asia’s Future through Smart Food and Water Solutions

Session ID#: 249289

Session Description:
Asia, home to nearly 59% of the global population, faces mounting challenges in achieving food and water security amid accelerating climate change, rapid population growth, and natural resource degradation. Transforming data into actionable insights is essential for building resilient, sustainable water and food systems across the region. This session will explore how cutting-edge technologies—such as Earth observation, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and integrated modeling—are being leveraged to monitor, predict, and manage Asia’s food and water systems. By showcasing innovative solutions and cross-sectoral collaborations, the session will highlight how data-driven approaches are transforming policy, planning, and implementation to foster a more secure and climate-resilient future and facilitate water diplomacy. Topics will include multi-scale remote sensing, machine learning and AI-based modeling, climate change analysis (with a focus on droughts and floods), decision support systems, tools for managing food and water systems, and water–energy–food nexus studies tailored to the Asian context.
