Session Proposal: River Resilience and Hydrologic Connectivity: Integrating Morphodynamic Insights and Climate Adaptation Across Scales (AGU25)

River Resilience and Hydrologic Connectivity: Integrating Morphodynamic Insights and Climate Adaptation Across Scales

Session ID#: 250375

Session Description:
This session explores innovative approaches for understanding and predicting river resilience and hydrologic connectivity amid increasing environmental and climatic pressures. We invite contributions that leverage field investigations, high-resolution remote sensing, drone-based surveys, LiDAR, and in-situ sensors to assess river health, morphodynamic change, and recovery processes across scales. Emphasis is placed on integrating these tools with hydrodynamic models and AI/ML frameworks to simulate flow behavior, sediment transport, and channel adjustments in both natural and human-altered systems. Studies examining groundwater–surface water interactions and their role in sustaining baseflow and ecological integrity are encouraged. As climate change accelerates—with altered monsoon patterns, rising temperatures, and more frequent compound extremes—its impact on river morphology and system resilience becomes increasingly critical. This session aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and generate actionable insights for advancing river recovery, climate-adaptive planning, and sustainable river basin management in rapidly changing environments.
