Session Proposal: NASA-ISRO SAR Mission Status and Early Results (AGU25)

U013
NASA-ISRO SAR Mission Status and Early Results

Session ID#: 253095

Session Description:
Slated for launch in mid-2025, NISAR will deliver unprecedented measurements of surface deformation and land cover change over the coming years. This session will showcase early results from the NISAR mission across each of its major science discipline areas of solid Earth, ecosystems and cryosphere.  The session will relate NISAR results to its science requirements, its role in NASA’s Earth Science to Action Strategy, and its ability to fulfill the recommendations of the 2007 and 2017 Earth Science and Applications decadal surveys.  With the next decadal survey approaching, NISAR will also inform NASA’s future directions in geodetic and land cover microwave imaging. The audience includes the science and applications communities served by SAR and repeat-pass InSAR data, which is a broad category including Solid Earth, Cryosphere, Hydrology, and Ecosystems science as well as applications areas such as geohazards, risk analysis, agriculture, and forestry.
