Bridging the Gap: Integrating Multi-Platform Observations of Trace Gases in Earth’s Atmosphere

Session Description:
Addressing significant gaps in atmospheric composition measurements — including limited vertical resolution, poor boundary layer pollutant detection, and observational data voids — enables accurate atmospheric modeling, improved public health warnings, and enhanced air quality forecasts. This session emphasizes the synergistic use of data from ground, airborne, and space-based platforms to monitor concentrations of Earth’s CO2, CH4, NO2, HCHO, O3, and other trace gases. Working in tandem, these platforms provide insights into local, regional, and global emissions and atmospheric processes.
This session invites submissions that intercompare datasets to resolve spatiotemporal gaps, analyze existing records to improve source-to-sink characterization, and discuss novel measurement methods and strategies for future satellite and sub-orbital missions that will extend these critical data records, alongside traditional validation. By fostering dialogue between the remote sensing and in-situ communities, this session serves as a forum for showcasing how integrated observing systems support atmospheric science, air quality management, and sustainability.
