Dynamic Exospheres of Terrestrial Bodies Throughout the Solar System and Beyond

Session Description:
The exosphere is the only atmospheric regime ubiquitous across all terrestrial bodies. Its composition, energetics, and density offer critical insights into photochemical pathways (Venus), long-term evolution (Earth, Mars, Titan), and surface-constituent analysis via solar-driven interactions (Moon, Mercury, Jovian satellites). Furthermore, the exosphere mediates space weather coupling between neutral populations and local plasma environments, including solar/stellar winds and ionospheric/plasmaspheric populations. This session invites investigations of terrestrial exospheres throughout the solar system and beyond (exoplanets). We welcome contributions on physics-based and data-driven modeling; remote sensing via UV/visible observations; and novel inversion algorithms for retrieving density profiles. The session also encompasses experimental surface physics—such as sputtering and desorption—to inform source rates for surface-bound exospheres. Additionally, we invite work on neutral-plasma interactions, specifically regarding atmospheric escape rates relative to orbital location and stellar activity. Presentations on current and upcoming missions dedicated to exospheric characterization are also encouraged.
