Environmental and Ecosystem Change Through the Late Pleistocene

Session Description:
The Late Pleistocene was a period of profound change in Earth's recent history. Over roughly 110,000 years, spanning the last interglacial through the termination of the most recent glacial period, environments and ecosystems reorganized globally in response to evolving climatic boundary conditions. New advances in Late Pleistocene paleoclimate and paleoecology are unlocking valuable insights into the future trajectories of the Earth system. These insights carry renewed urgency in the context of unprecedented anthropogenic pressures. We welcome participants from a variety of disciplines who focus on the Late Pleistocene paleoclimate or paleoecological records from terrestrial, marine, glacial or freshwater realms to gain new insight about environmental and ecosystem change. Studies employing multi-proxy, paleo-modeling or interdisciplinary approaches are especially encouraged. This session provides researchers a forum for cross-disciplinary exchange on the environmental and ecological transformations that shaped the Earth in the Late Pleistocene.
