Multiscale Electrodynamics of Subauroral Geospace

Session Description:
The focus of this session is on observations, theory, and simulations of the multiscale structure and dynamics of wave and plasma phenomena occurring in the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and atmosphere at subauroral latitudes during geomagnetic storms and substorms. Results from investigations related to the origin, structure, and dynamics of subauroral polarization streams (SAPS), subauroral ion drifts (SAID), plasma instabilities, and related luminous structures—such as Stable Auroral Red (SAR) arcs, Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement (STEVE), and “picket-fence” arcs—are particularly welcome.
