Toward Modifications of Extreme Weather

Session Description:
Climate change modulates the weather patterns, and humans face increasing risks of extreme weather events. To mitigate the risks, we build strong infrastructure and improve our predictive capabilities. Weather predictability has been studied extensively in the past decades, and the weather prediction skills have been improving consistently. We have limited weather predictability due to the chaotic nature and strong sensitivity to the initial conditions. This session welcomes presentations about the topics related to sensitivities, predictability and modifications of extreme weather events, including but not limited to theoretical and mathematical explorations, simulation studies, engineering approaches, and humanity aspects such as ethical, legal, social and economical issues.
