Advances in remote sensing capabilities leading to a better understanding of ecosystem and natural resource management

Session Description:
NASA’s innovative technologies have significantly expanded the understanding of ecosystems at local, regional, and global scales. New science and data from missions like GEDI, NISAR, the STV Decadal Survey Incubation Program, PACE, and EMIT, as well as airborne remote sensing instruments, enable greater knowledge of ecosystems for improved management of natural resources, such as forest inventories, fire fuel, habitats, and water resources. Scientists and resource managers can better predict and prepare for future changes. This session welcomes contributions that use these innovative remote sensing technologies towards ecological applications and highlight how they can improve our resource management capabilities, aligning with the NASA Earth Science to Action Strategy, to improve the feedback between research and applications. Abstracts may use remote sensing metrics for resource management with direct applications to the public or private sectors, including tracking of change, data product improvement, and data fusion to advance ecosystem knowledge and applications.
