Data, Methods, and Applications for Understanding Climate Impacts on Global Agriculture

Session Description:
The availability of accurate agricultural data at subnational scales is crucial for informing modern agricultural practices and policies, especially with respect to climate change. Though recent efforts have made substantial progress in harmonizing global agricultural statistics, data availability remains limited and quality is heterogeneous. In this session, we will bring together communities working to build, evaluate and apply agricultural datasets to better understand our global food system.
We welcome submissions broadly across two related areas: (1) agricultural datasets and methods for their development and (2) applications of new methods and datasets to understand agricultural systems and environmental change. (1) could include, for example, new datasets on crop yield, land use, irrigation, fertilizer or pesticides, or methods to assess data quality and consistency. (2) could include climate impact assessments, crop yield predictions, early warning systems, decision support systems, and related applications.
