Transboundary Pollution and Resource Management: From Science to Action

Session Description:
Transboundary pollution and resource management involve environmental, social, or security issues that cross borders, demanding science-driven, coordinated international action. This session welcomes submissions that address transboundary issues regarding one or more of the following topics: 1) utilizations of multiplatform observations for monitoring and understanding the sources, movements, and fates of pollutants and/or resources (e.g., water) in Earth systems; 2) applications of numerical modeling, data assimilation, and/or machine learning approaches for source attribution and impact (health, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, economy, and climate) assessments; and 3) discussions on strategies and policies for mitigating transboundary pollution impacts and optimizing resource management. Topics on historical and future periods spanning all temporal and spatial scales are relevant. Investigations into compounding and cascading effects are highly encouraged. Also, this session will offer an opportunity to explore various aspects of the transboundary air-water nexus.
