Session Description:
How life emerged from planetary processes remains one of the central questions in Earth and planetary science. This session invites contributions that examine the evolution of prebiotic geochemical processes and conditions for planetary habitability, with an emphasis on early (Hadean/Archean) Earth processes, planetary environments, and the emergence of habitable conditions. We welcome contributions from across geochemistry, astrobiology, planetary science, and theoretical chemistry to explore how habitable environments and prebiotic systems may have co-evolved on the early Earth and exoplanetary systems.
Topics of interest include:
• Reconstruction of early planetary environments, including atmospheric evolution, the emergence of early oceans, and the initiation of large-scale planetary processes, and how these shape prebiotic chemistry
• Non-equilibrium processes, such as impacts, redox gradients, wet-dry cycling, and hydrothermal systems, in driving prebiotic synthesis
• Molecular evolution and the emergence of complex reaction networks
• Contributions that link early Earth studies to Mars, icy worlds, and rocky exoplanets
