Spaceborne constellation science for atmospheric clouds, convection, precipitation, aerosol and chemical species

Session Description:
In upcoming years, NASA will address integrated science related to clouds, convection, precipitation, and upper tropospheric/lower stratospheric atmospheric composition. The planned Fleet for the Atmosphere Linking Commercial Observations to NASA (FALCON) constellation consists of two FALCON-specific missions: an atmospheric lidar and cloud radar. It also incorporates several near-future NASA atmospheric missions including INCUS (Investigation of Convective UpdraftS), PolSIR (Polarized Submillimeter Ice-cloud Radiometer), PMM (Precipitation Measuring Mission, with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, JAXA), and STRIVE (Stratosphere Troposphere Response using Infrared Vertically-resolved light Explorer). Relevant commercial observations, as well as technology demonstration missions will also be considered for inclusion in FALCON integrated constellation science. This session seeks presentations on relevant NASA and commercial missions that can or will contribute to FALCON science, as well as on opportunities for multi-instrument synergy, physical and machine learning/artificial intelligence assisted retrievals, assimilation and analysis tools, methods, and applications related to data integration from disaggregated observations.
