Session Description:
Subsurface characterization and monitoring play a critical role in understanding hydrogeological structures, flow and transport processes, water quality, and contamination remediation. This session invites abstracts on recent advances and innovative approaches for characterizing subsurface properties and dynamic processes using state-of-the-art geophysical and hydrogeological methods in laboratory, field, or numerical studies. We welcome abstract submissions on a wide range of topics, including subsurface imaging, time-lapse monitoring, aquifer characterization, heat and solute tracer experiments, instrumentation development, and numerical simulation. We encourage contributions that highlight the integration of remote sensing, in-situ sensing, and hydrogeological observations to advance our understanding of the subsurface. We are particularly interested in work that pushes the boundaries of hydrogeophysical methods or leverages multiple data observations to enhance subsurface characterization and monitoring. This session provides an excellent opportunity for students and early career presenters to showcase their research and receive constructive feedback during and after the session.
