Current and future climate change hazards—such as more frequent wildfires, floods, and droughts—threaten water quantity and quality, exacerbating challenges to sustainable groundwater management, surface water beneficial uses, and access to safe and affordable drinking water. Fluctuations in US federal funding for water systems, climate resilience, and equity hinder implementation of long-term strategies to protect and reimagine water systems for a future of intensified weather whiplash. Moving state and regional climate adaptation forward requires new tools and approaches that allow diverse interests to collaborate across silos and move beyond historically rigid resource management.

This session is interested in the study and practice of state- and regional-level climate adaptation policies, tools, and approaches related to water quantity, quality, and affordability. Contributions focused on actionable science, analytical tools, public engagement, racial equity, and Tribal water management are encouraged.
