Novel data, methods and applications in geomorphometry

Session ID#: 281885

Session Description:
Geomorphometry is the interdisciplinary science and practice of quantitative land surface analysis, aimed at describing the shape of the Earth’s surface, and its effects on human and natural geography. It is essential to understanding landscape processes and dynamics on Earth and other planetary bodies. Growth of geospatial data opens up possibilities for morphometric analysis, from mapping landforms to understanding the underlying processes, and presents challenges in geo-computation methods.

We encourage contributions highlighting scientific, professional, and industrial applications, including software development and toolkits focusing on:

- Digital Elevation Models, point clouds

- High-resolution LiDAR, photogrammetry, satellite data

- Automated surface analysis, surface change

- Morphometry of Earth and planetary surfaces

- Geomorphometry methods for hydrology

- Mapping and analysis of landforms and landscapes

- Natural hazards on terrestrial, marine and planetary surfaces

- High-performance and parallel computing implementations

- Applications in urban planning and cultural heritage
