Models, In situ, and Remote sensing of Aerosols (MIRA)

Session Description:
Aerosol-related research spans three key areas: numerical modeling, in situ measurements, and remote sensing. The community sees enhanced measurement and modeling capabilities through interactions among these groups, and this strengthens the overall scientific impact on Earth’s energy balance, air quality, and aerosol-cloud interaction research. The Models, In situ, and Remote sensing of Aerosols (MIRA) is an international forum that fosters collaboration across these fields and regional boundaries, enhancing scientific synergy and impact in aerosol-related research. MIRA focuses on interdisciplinary efforts where these fields intersect and welcomes new aerosol-related initiatives that benefit from collaboration, for instance, an improvement of aerosol optics for remote sensing and numerical modeling, the incorporation of satellite aerosol retrievals into models, improving numerical models using laboratory/in-situ/airborne measurements, and more. We invite presentations that highlight cross-disciplinary work and encourage participation from scientists interested in the MIRA concept.
