Integrating Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Seismic Anisotropy

Session Description:
Observations of seismic anisotropy provide critical insights into deformation within the Earth’s interior. Increasingly powerful computational resources and workflow frameworks have enabled new advances in modeling Earth systems, including improved coupling of  anisotropic fabric development with mantle convection codes. The continued acquisition of data through the deployment of both increasing numbers of and larger swaths of seismic arrays has allowed for the improved imaging of seismic properties in new localities and geologic settings. Studies of fabric development from experimental  deformation studies and from natural samples provide key constraints on the composition and deformation structure within the mantle. These observations are far more powerful when examined together than when considered in isolation. This session aims to provide a multidisciplinary view on seismic anisotropy.

Submissions are welcome from all disciplines, including but not limited to seismology, mineral physics, and geodynamics, with particular interest in submissions addressing seismic anisotropy from a multidisciplinary perspective.
