Advancing the Understanding of Climate and Global Change: Insights Derived from 35 years of the C&GC Postdoctoral Program

The Climate and Global Change (C&GC) Postdoctoral Program supports cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research aimed at understanding the drivers, impacts, and responses to climate variability and global environmental change. Since its inception in 1990, the program has fostered a new generation of atmospheric, oceanic, terrestrial, and social scientists to address urgent scientific and societal challenges. This Union Session seeks to highlight advances and ongoing research enabled by the C&GC Program showcasing studies on climate dynamics and predictability, extreme events, carbon cycle and biogeochemical processes, and adaptation strategies. Contributions from the whole AGU community, including past and current C&GC fellows, hosts, and applicants, leveraging innovative observational networks, experimental approaches, and modeling frameworks are particularly encouraged, as are studies connecting human and natural systems. By bringing together scientists from diverse disciplines, this session provides a forum to promote cross-disciplinary dialogue, share new insights, and identify emerging research directions in climate and global change science.
