Multi-satellite Heliospheric Measurements for Research and Operations: Lagrange 1

Session Description:
The new and legacy missions in orbit around the Sun-Earth Lagrange 1 point (L1) are expected to provide comprehensive coverage of solar wind properties. In September 2025, IMAP and SOLAR-1 (formerly SWFO-L1) were launched, following two years after Aditya-L1, and joining ACE, DSCOVR, SoHO, and Wind. Measurements of the solar wind, IMF, and particle distributions made by this L1 swarm are expected to improve our understanding of the heliospheric environment at L1 and its implications for the magnetospheric and ionospheric response. A wide range of research topics are related to the improvement of solar wind coupling functions, the parameterization of geoeffective structures including CMEs, mesoscale phenomena shocks, the role of turbulence, and other microphysics processes, and others. On the other hand, operational aspects include the real-time use of data from these missions, and calibration/validation using historical data. This session welcomes contributions on the above topics.
