From Forecast to Action: Advancing Climate and Weather Science for Resilient Early Warning Systems

Session Description:
Advances in weather and climate science are improving the prediction of high-impact hazards across timescales, yet translating these advances into effective early warning systems remains a critical challenge. This session explores how innovations in forecasting, modelling, and climate services can be operationalized to support resilient, impact-based early warning systems, particularly in data-sparse and highly vulnerable regions.
We invite contributions on tropical cyclone and severe weather forecasting, seasonal climate services, solar radiation prediction, and advances in high-resolution and AI-driven modelling. Emphasis is placed on integrating scientific outputs into decision-support systems, co-production with users, and strengthening multi-hazard early warning frameworks.
The session highlights interdisciplinary approaches linking science, policy, and practice, with applications in disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and anticipatory action to enhance societal resilience and improve early action outcomes.
