Exploring Synergies and Trade-offs in Solar-Integrated Landscapes: Agrivoltaics, Ecovoltaics, and Other Multiuse Photovoltaic Systems

As global demand for land and clean energy intensifies amid a changing climate, dual- and multi-use photovoltaic (PV) systems offer powerful solutions that harmonize solar electricity production with food, water, ecosystem, and sociocultural needs. This session highlights cutting-edge research in co-located PV systems—including agrivoltaics, ecovoltaics, floatovoltaics, aquavoltaics, and rangevoltaics. We invite interdisciplinary contributions that explore environmental, social, economic, and technological dimensions of multi-functional PV, from microclimate impacts and biodiversity outcomes to system modeling, design innovation, and policy integration. Our goal is to foster a dynamic, inclusive space where engineers, ecologists, farmers, modelers, and community leaders come together to shape the future of sustainable solar deployment. This session will showcase not only where multi-use PV stands today – but where it’s going, and who it serves.
