Modern marine sedimentary deposits and the processes that shape them influence morphology, build the stratigraphic record, and have implications for biogeochemical cycles, ecology, and water quality.  These impacts are important across coastal and marine environments spanning from wetlands and estuaries, to continental shelves and slopes; and operate over a range of timescales from turbulent bursts, tidal cycles, storms, up to decadal and beyond. This session will focus on processes and mechanisms that transport and transform marine sedimentary systems, including sedimentary geology, morphodynamics, non-cohesive and cohesive sediment transport, and related topics such as subsidence and land loss, geohazards, sediment management, and coastal restoration. Studies may include field observations, laboratory experiments, and applications of models and machine learning. Examinations of interdisciplinary challenges are encouraged, such as the interconnectivity of sediment transport with biogeochemical and ecological processes, the fate of particulate bound contaminants in marine environments, and anthropogenic modifications of coastal environments.
