From Field to Space: Integrating Observations Across Scales for Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring

Session Description:
Airborne data and field measurements from NASA campaigns such as BioSCape, AVUELO, and SHIFT offer unique insights that complement and enhance satellite measurements and extend analyses that are only possible with field data. These campaigns provide in situ data for key variables describing ecosystems, terrestrial vegetation and soils, planktonic and aquatic macrophytes, supporting improved analysis and enabling multi-scale studies. We invite submissions that explore how airborne campaigns contribute to advancing terrestrial and aquatic research in support of current (e.g., EMIT, DESIS, PRISMA, PACE, NISAR) and upcoming (e.g., EAGLE-VSWIR) spaceborne missions. We also welcome submissions that inform or align with NASA scoping studies PANGEA and ARID. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, scaling, methodologies, and scientific findings related to ecosystem function and biodiversity across terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Submissions leveraging multi-sensor and/or multi-temporal data from these or other relevant campaigns are encouraged.
