Advancing Sustainable Agriculture: Water Use, Irrigation, and Climate Change

Session Description:
Agriculture significantly influences freshwater availability globally, particularly through irrigation practices that underpin global food security and rural livelihoods. With climate change increasingly altering precipitation patterns and exacerbating drought conditions, the sustainability of agricultural water use is critically challenged. This session aims to address the pressing need for integrating climate resilience into agricultural water management practices to contribute towards the sustainability of future food production and water resources. We invite submissions addressing: the impacts of changing climate conditions on water availability and irrigation demands in agriculture; advances in irrigation technology, labor, and management practices designed to improve water-use efficiency and sustainability; and water modeling approaches to forecast water availability, irrigation requirements, and crop productivity under various climate scenarios.
