C41C:
Laser Altimetry over Polar Snow and Ice I Posters
Session ID#: 7527
Session Description:
NASA’s Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) will continue the tradition established by ICESat (2003-2009) of providing multi-year elevation measurements needed to quantify change in the Earth’s cryosphere. Since ICESat-2 will collect data globally, it will also provide valuable measurements for the broader research community including those focused on using altimetry to support multi-disciplinary studies. This session will provide a forum for the current scientific and technological achievements associated with pre-launch algorithm development, instrumentation analysis, and data product generation over the broad range of surface measurements; from sea ice to inland water. Submissions associated with future data usage in support of terrestrial, atmospheric and oceanographic applications are encouraged as are those associated with on-orbit calibration/validation techniques and data distribution.
