Advances in Ecohydrology of Water-Stressed Environments III Posters

Session Description:
Water-stressed environments include drylands and any drought-prone ecosystems where vegetation productivity is water-limited during at least part of the year. These seasonally or perennially dry ecosystems make up about 40% of the terrestrial land surface. Both anthropogenic activities (e.g., land use changes and overgrazing) and global environmental changes (e.g., CO2 enrichment, drought and warming) affect dryland vegetation and water dynamics, with important impacts on ecohydrological and geochemical processes, regional climate feedback, and the provision of ecosystem services such as water resource supply, livestock grazing, sheltering of the soil surface, and flood control. These potential consequences on ecosystem function and services highlight the importance of advancing our understanding of ecohydrological processes in water-stressed environments. We welcome submissions focusing on the ecohydrological processes/feedbacks in water-stressed environments and their implications on a broad range of issues, including vegetation water use and ecosystem change, carbon sequestration, water resources, desertification, and the food-energy-water nexus.
