Advances in Models, Algorithms, and Data Observation in Hydrology and Water Energy System Operation
Session ID#: 75879
Session Description:
Abrupt weather conditions and climatic variability have placed great challenges on the management of water resources world-widely. Scientists in the fields of hydrology, meteorology, water resources, and climate community have been developing advanced modeling tools, new data observation, and algorithms to help stakeholders derive the best possible solutions for planning and decision-making. This session seeks studies on (1) physical and statistical hydrological modeling along with new optimization algorithms for uncertainty analysis and parameter calibration, (2) climate extreme analysis and the impacts on water cycle and optimal water system operation, (3) new data and observation, i.e., in-situ and remotely sensed information, for precipitation, evaporation, soil moisture, and streamflow, etc. and (4) novel artificial intelligence and data-mining tools to solve the complex management of integrated water, agriculture, and water-related energy management. The goal of this session is to enhance our understanding on physical dynamics of water under climate change and human interference.
