Student/Educator Undergraduate Research Programs Promoting Authentic Scientific Experience
Session ID#: 76637
Session Description:
We invite presentations of experiences, models, and outcomes of successful initiatives that provide authentic research experiences for students and educators at the undergraduate level. In particular, this yearâs session seeks papers from NASAâs Undergraduate Student Instrumentation Program (USIP). We hope to get papers that emphasize the lessons learned from the amazing variety of undergraduate student USIP projects, and the programmatic âlessons learnedâ as well. We invite the undergraduates and recent alumni to describe their experiences in student-led research project. Presentations can address the roles of scientists and education experts in bringing research experiences to the classroom. We welcome presentations from educators, scientists, and students as well as those who design, facilitate, evaluate or fund programs. Other topics may include recruitment strategies, program sustainability, mentoring, student outcomes, evaluation results, and lessons learned from past efforts. Presentations are welcome from all scientific disciplines.
