Multidisciplinary Integration of Active and Passive Tomographic Surveys and Large Datasets for Geo-Hydro-Environmental Applications
Session ID#: 76643
Session Description:
Three-dimensional images of subsurface processes and hydrogeomechanical properties are necessary to improve our ability to manage environments. We are exploring the concept of exploiting natural stimuli (e.g., lightning, river variations, tidal waves, and earthquakes) supported by advanced remote sensor network technology as passive tomographic surveys (e.g., MT, Time-lapse gravity and Riverstage tomography) to see into a great volume of the subsurface. Integrating them with field-scale active tomographic surveys (e.g., airborne EM and hydraulic tomography) and local-scale point measurements, IT and stochastic information fusion methodologies could lead to the best-unbiased, high-resolution images and their uncertainty. In this session, we solicit submissions that 1) study responses of subsurface to various stimuli and processes; 2) develop spatially-distributed, non-invasive, smart sensor networks to gather massive hydrogeomechanical data; 3) develop information fusion methods; and, 4) develop parallel/distributed, adaptive algorithms for simulation in support of environmental, hydrological, geotechnical applications. Other related topics are welcome.
