Insights into Solid Earth and Planetary Dynamics from New Calibrations and Novel Applications of Thermobarometry and Geospeedometry

Session ID#: 77361

Session Description:
Recent developments in thermobarometry and geospeedometry have produced new insights into magmagenesis, metamorphism, tectonics, mantle convection and planetary formation and evolution. This session highlights innovative applications of thermobarometers and geospeedometers that advance our understanding of geodynamic processes, and developments in the calibration and parameterization of new thermobarometers and geospeedometers. We encourage submissions on analytical, experimental, and theoretical studies relevant to the Earth, Moon and planets. Subjects of relevant research might include (but are not limited to) phase equilibria, diffusion rates, thermodynamic modeling, trace element partitioning, isotope fractionation, tectonics, igneous and metamorphic petrology, and planetary science. Studies that bridge traditional boundaries between disciplines, and those that make use of new analytical or experimental methods are particularly encouraged.
