Connectivity: an integrating concept across process domains in geomorphology and study of the Earth's surface

Session ID#: 77593

Session Description:
Connectivity has emerged in recent years as a powerful conceptual framework within which to understand spatial and temporal variability in runoff and sediment transport.  The concept has had particular success in the field of catchment hydrology, but has also been employed in, for example, explaining rates of soil erosion by water and in the study of aeolian processes. However, despite these successes, the concept has resulted in little more than case studies, with little in the way of the development of a theoretical underpinning.  Contributions to this session are invited on any aspect of connectivity, with the aim of developing a debate that might generate the basis for an integrated theoretical framework.
