Multidisciplinary Studies of Mixed Carbonate-Siliciclastic Systems

Session ID#: 77923

Session Description:
Mixed carbonate-siliciclastic depositional systems are common throughout the geologic record and host some of the most prolific hydrocarbon resources currently being exploited around the world. Facies heterogeneities and complex diagenetic processes, however, present challenges for conventional characterization of these systems. This session is focused on multidisciplinary approaches that can enhance our understanding of mixed carbonate-siliciclastic systems and reservoirs. Detailed, integrated, and multidimensional studies of these systems will lead to fundamental insights into the formation and evolution of such systems, which will improve predictability, exploration program designs, and the development of natural resources. Submissions utilizing multiple lines of enquiries including, but not limited to, sequence stratigraphic and sedimentological studies of ancient and modern analogs, organic and inorganic geochemistry, seismic characterization, petrophysics, geomechanical analysis, and digital rock physics are invited. Studies encompassing a broad geographic spectrum, and a variety of scales, from pore to reservoir to field scale are solicited.
