Multi-scale analysis of emissions and observations for air quality forecasting

Session ID#: 78801

Session Description:
The available measurements of tropospheric chemical and aerosol constituents offer an opportunity to improve our understanding of the emissions of these constituents that are critical for accurate multi-scale air quality modeling and analysis. We invite contributions related to: a) evaluation of regional-to-global emission inventories using satellite observations, including inter-comparison studies; b) inverse modeling of sources and sinks of reactive gases and/or aerosols; c) harmonization of satellite retrievals for investigating emissions variability and trends; d) novel techniques in assessing uncertainties in emission estimates (top-down and bottom-up), including multi-species analyses and forward simulation experiments; e) air quality model set-up/evaluation in different parts of the world; f) assimilation of observations into the models; and g) post-processing of model output.
