Hydro-dynamics and sediment transport in the built environment

Session ID#: 80852

Session Description:
Urban environments are among the most dynamic on Earth, as land cover change and human alterations continually modifies the landscape and hydrology. The built environment alters water, sediment transport, and land surface processes. These rapidly developing landscapes pose complex and interdisciplinary challenges for management, planning, and decision making. Developments in geosciences and engineering have created a frontier for understanding these systems and finding solutions to the challenges they present. This interdisciplinary session welcomes contributions based upon field observations, the application and development of models, physical experiments, and interdisciplinary studies that investigate hydrology and sediment transport in the dynamic urban environment. The session will include research on urban fluvialmorphology, hydrology, hydraulics, and urban stormwater systems (green infrastructure).
