Architecture, Kinematics, Timing, and Rheology of Shear Zones
Session ID#: 81408
Session Description:
Shear zones may be characterized by complex spatially and temporally varying three-dimensional architecture, kinematics, strain history, and mechanical behaviour. Treating shear zones as systems rather than individual features, and integrating results across disciplines within the geological science, has led to significant progress in understanding their evolution. This session invites contributions investigating shear zones in a range of observation scales and approaches, such as field observations, microanalyses, numerical and physical models, innovative geochronology, rock deformation experiments, and theoretical considerations.
