Observing and Modeling Biogeochemical Responses to Disturbance
Observing and Modeling Biogeochemical Responses to Disturbance
Session ID#: 81606
Session Description:
Global change continues to alter disturbance regimes with profound implications for Earth’s biogeochemical cycles. However, forecasting biogeochemical responses to disturbance remains challenging because of limitations in the detection, scaling, and process-level understanding of disturbance effects. This session will address new advances in the modeling, remote sensing, scaling and response of biogeochemical cycling to disturbance, with a particular focus on studies integrating two or more of these components. We encourage abstracts from those linking ground and/or remotely sensed observations to modeling, studies examining compound disturbances or interactions with other forms of global change, and field and/or modeling experiments aimed at improving process-level understanding of disturbance effects on biogeochemical cycling.
