Novel Technological Advances in Mass Spectrometry

Session ID#: 82268

Session Description:
Technological advances in mass spectrometry have increased the precision and accuracy of measurements, and thus the diversity of sample media that can be analyzed. This evolution of instrumentation has resulted in broad accessibility to commercially-available mass spectrometers that are used across a variety of sectors (e.g., industrial, academic, government, space). Despite this, the push to work with increasingly smaller sample concentrations and the pursuit of novel isotope systems/phases in different environments often necessitates modifications to instruments and/or developing specialized analytical techniques to increase the probability of successful data acquisition. We invite contributions detailing novel analytical advances in mass spectrometry from a diversity of fields. Examples include, but are not limited to, specialized TIMS loading/measurement techniques, IRMS analysis of novel isotope systems, LASS-ICP-MS and uniquely coupled systems, such as IC-ICP-MS. Custom builds and modifications to commercially-available instrumentation, and development of peripheral equipment used for sample introduction are particularly encouraged for submission.
