Temperature at multiple scales: measuring, modeling, and analyzing leaf and canopy temperatures by any means necessary
Session ID#: 83313
Session Description:
Leaf and canopy temperatures strongly influence ecosystem structure and function. However, understanding of how leaf and canopy temperatures vary in time and space is limited, primarily driven by a paucity of high-frequency, long-term observations. The objective of this session is to assemble researchers who use temperature measurements and models to explore the function of leaves and ecosystems across scales. We invite contributions that involve near-surface (high resolution) thermal remote sensing, satellite observations, or novel methods of measuring leaf and canopy temperatures. We also invite submissions describing development of models for leaf and canopy temperatures, analyzing comparisons of measured and modeled temperatures, and measurements and models of leaf and canopy temperatures effects on plant function (e.g., photosynthesis, radiation exchanges, sensible and latent heat fluxes).
