Groundwater – Climate Interactions
Session ID#: 83484
Session Description:
Groundwater-climate interactions are dynamic and also is one of the essential processes involving and affecting water and energy budget. However, the impacts of natural- and human-induced changes in the spatiotemporal variability of the groundwater system have not been fully addressed in a comprehensive manner, and usually, this process is missing, misrepresented, or simplified in the current land surface models. The session solicits papers in groundwater modeling, interactions between groundwater and climate, and remote sensing applications on the measure of groundwater changes, to discuss the state of the art on the relationships between groundwater and the water cycle variabilities, and to understand how the groundwater, the slow-moving of the hydrologic cycle interacts with the fast-moving atmospheric responses. Papers that integrate sophisticated method to interpret model outputs, remote-sensing techniques/datasets to consider the impacts of social change aspects on the groundwater changes, and using innovative methods to evaluate groundwater models are particularly encouraged.
