Indigenous Foods Knowledges Network: Co-Producing among Indigenous Peoples in the Arctic and US Southwest 666460

Abstract:

The Indigenous Foods Knowledges Network (IFKN) is a four-year, NSF-funded research coordination network (OPP-1745499, ifkn.org) that brings together Indigenous leaders and residents from the Arctic and the US Southwest along with Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers from diverse disciplines. Network meetings focus on exchanging knowledge to advance research and innovative approaches to fostering food and knowledge sovereignty. The network foregrounds Indigenous knowledges, with support and collaboration from researchers trained in Western scientific disciplines, drawing on a charter that defines our approach to collaboration and knowledge production and co-production. In this presentation, we will describe the charter and the practices of relationship-building and knowledge exchange that we have developed through our network meetings, with a focus on practical lessons learned for fostering successful co-production of knowledge initiatives.
