Visualizing the Global Impact of NASA Science

Abstract:

Times of crisis force us to think differently about ourselves and the world around us. The scale of the current COVID-19 pandemic challenges us with a very human question: What can we do to help? NASA Science and its international partners observe the Earth from space. When these observations are combined with ground data and computing power, we can better understand the dramatic changes in the Earth’s environment and resulting impacts on people. In this talk, Dr. Zurbuchen will share how both fundamental research and innovative applications are at the forefront of the pandemic response, to solve problems and meet the world’s ever-challenging needs. He will also discuss how these COVID-motivated methodologies are critical to address other challenges with truly global scope.
