Abstract:
The Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) is a satellite mission for remote sensing of the Earth's atmosphere that has to date provided over sixteen years of composition measurements that contribute to our understanding of ozone recovery, climate change and pollutant emissions. The primary instrument for ACE is a high-resolution (0.02 cm-1) Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) operating between 750 and 4400 cm-1 using the solar occultation measurement technique. The ACE-FTS data set provides altitude profiles of temperature, pressure, and volume mixing ratios of more than 40 atmospheric trace gas species and their subsidiary isotopologues. This paper will report on validation results for the newly released version 4.1 ACE-FTS data set focusing on comparisons with other satellite-based measurements.
