Abstract:
We present results from a wave analysis of MAVEN magnetometer data from 5-16 Hz and at altitudes below 200 km (i.e. generally below the ionospheric peak). More than 40 significant wave events were identified and analyzed. Many of the waves seem to be associated with the cusps of the crustal magnetic fields and the majority of the events occur at solar zenith angles greater than 80 degrees (i.e. on the terminator or the night side). We expand upon past magnetic-field-only results through further analyses using the full suite of the MAVEN instruments. Using these results, we investigate the likely casual physical mechanisms, the implications for ionospheric physics, and the possibility of detection from the ground.
