Abstract:
For the purposes of understanding magnetic reconnection and other phenomena observed by the MMS spacecraft, it is useful to visualize the magnetic field structure in the vicinity of the spacecraft, and to be able to calculate the relative velocity between that structure and the spacecraft. Recently, a new polynomial reconstruction technique has been developed to accomplish these goals. Here, we explain new developments in the method and test these developments using data from virtual spacecraft moving through the magnetic field of a particle in cell simulation.
