Obsidian: Reflections of a Wandering Geologist

Abstract:

Consider this submission for the slam,

A sonnet for an abstract, just for fun!

(I'll take the chance to do this, since I can.)

My PhD is very close to done,

The journey's been a long and wand'ring one,

And I am not quite where I thought I'd be

If you had asked when I had just begun

But there has been so much to do and see.

I found my own place in Geology,

And I will share some knowledge that I've learned.

It's int'resting, I think you will agree,

The path to the degree that I have earned.

Allow me to present this poem (or rap);

It is my metaphorical field map.
