Facilitating analysis of Satellite Derived Measurements of CO, CO2, and CH4 Using A Suite of GES DISC Services

Abstract:
We will demonstrate how scientists can expedite their satellite data workflow leveraging NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) subsetting services. A sample validation of OCO-2/OCO-3 and GOSat (ACOS) XCO2 products as well as TROPOMI CH4 and CO co-located with in-situ measurements from TCCON, FLUXNET, and NOAA using our subsetting services to trim satellite data according to user-defined variables and spatiotemporal region will be presented as a use case. The subsetting service automatically returns only the dataset of user-defined coincidence criteria, which greatly reduces not only the downloaded data but also processing time and workflow. We will show how much the time and file size savings can be achieved by utilizing subsetting services within the satellite data validation workflow for a global set of in-situ trace gas measurements through this use case.
